Begin Again Poster

This week, help Begin Again, illness Deliver us from Evil, cure Wish I was Here and Life of Crime all arrive on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Best of the Bunch: Begin Again was an underrated summer comedy starring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley. Written and directed by John Carney (who previously wrote and directed Once), the story focuses on a disenchanted music executive who discovers new fresh talent at a bar one evening. Smart, musically-engaging and delightful, Begin Again may not have caught on with viewers but it’s a must-see on DVD. Grade: B+

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Deliver us from Evil is a supernatural thriller based on a true story. Starring Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez, this is a smart and story-driven scary movie that is a step above similar fare and a solid ride for fans of the genre. Here’s my full review. Grade: B

Wish I was Here is Zach Braff’s directorial follow-up to Garden State (2004). Braff stars here as a married man who learns early on that his father is slowly dying. Attempting to bring his family together, Braff’s character struggles with an abnormal home life and a brother that doesn’t want anything to do with their dad.  Grade: B-

Also now available on Blu-Ray/DVD: America, Life of Crime, Child of God
