Monday Spotlight: Robin Lord Taylor

Tonight on FOX, viagra 40mg Gotham returns for its second episode after its solid premiere last week. Many viewers– including myself– tuned into the show to see how it introduced the dark and complex world of Gotham City. When I watched it though, cialis 40mg I was quickly impressed by the standout performance of Robin Lord Taylor, a young actor who dominated every scene he was in as the supporting character of the Penguin.

It was only eleven years ago that the talented Ben McKenzie starred as the lead of The O.C. only to see Adam Brody break out with his supporting character, Seth Cohen. Now, eleven years later, McKenzie is undeniably the star of Gotham but much of the show’s buzz surrounds Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald Cobblepot (otherwise known as the Penquin).

Taylor has guest-starred on a number of high-profile shows (The Walking Dead, The Good Wife, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, to name a few) before but hasn’t had the opportunity to break out… until now. The wonderful actor now has a great showcase for his talents and that’s why he’s in our Monday Spotlight.

Here are three fun facts about the actor:

1.) Taylor was greatly influenced by Tim Burton’s Batman films. In fact, according to the LA Times, he went to see the first Batman film on opening night in Iowa. “There was a line around the block to go in,” he noted in an interview,  “and I had never seen that for a film before. It was an eye-opening experience. The world that Tim Burton created, just the world of Batman in general, blew my young mind open into a million pieces.”

2.) Taylor is a natural blond and his friends are having trouble adjusting to his new look. “I’m the blondest person alive,” he told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year. “Dealing with that has been intense I’ve never dyed my hair before. My friends are going through post-traumatic stress looking at me.”

3.) The show’s cast are quick to sing Taylor’s praises. According to MTVNews.com, co-star Donal Logue called Taylor’s performance “pretty remarkable” and Jada Pinkett-Smith, who plays the monstrous Fish Mooney on the series, added that Taylor’s “interpretation of the character” is “very fresh and hot.”

I can’t wait to see what happens next on the show and Taylor’s performance on the program is one of its highlights. That’s why he’s earned our Monday Spotlight.
