This is Us Trailer

There aren’t that many inspirational shows on television. Nor are there are a lot of shows about the importance of family. NBC previously offered dramas like Friday Night Lights and Parenthood that were both inspirational and family-oriented but no show has really replaced them on the schedule. However, clinic this week NBC presented their upfronts to advertisers and the network’s This is Us trailer is already setting records and could fill the void on their schedule.

According to Deadline.com, the new show  “follows an ensemble, some of them sharing the same birthday, whose life stories intertwine in curious ways.”  Not much otherwise is known about the new program but the trailer is becoming massively popular.

From Deadline:

This Is Us is off to a hot start. The trailer for the new NBC dramedy series from Dan Fogelman and 20th TV is nearing 15 million views on Facebook a little over 48 hours after it was released. That shatters the record for most Facebook video views of a new-show trailer during the seven days of upfront week, posted by the CW’sLegends Of Tomorrow last year (4.1 million)…

For This Is Us, the traction seems to come from word of mouth as this is an original concept with no underlying property people would recognize, no high concept or special effects, making the trailer’s success even more impressive (and surprising).

The show’s positive message, it seems, is clearly clicking with viewers. The trailer offers a glimpse into some of the show’s stories focusing in on a father (Milo Ventimiglia) who tragically loses one of the three triplets his wife is delivering. It also presents a woman struggling with her weight (Chrissy Metz), who is trying to change her life. If this show lives up to the trailer, it could become a major hit.
