Chris Nashawaty, EW.com: “It’s lightweight, zero-gravity Trek that is, for the most part, devoid of the sort of Big Ideas and knotty existential questions that creator Gene Roddenberry specialized in.” Check out the full review here.

Scott Collura, IGN.com: “[I]t’s a great relief to say that Beyond is terrific, a fun and exciting entry in the series that balances subtle fan service while also feeling fresh and modern. ” Check out the full review here.

Owen-Gleiberman, Variety.com: “ It’s got a very familiar, old-fangled, no-mystery structure, and that’s because it’s basically the “Star Trek” version of an interplanetary action film, with a plot that doesn’t take you to many new frontiers. But there’s plenty of chance to hang out with a cast that audiences have — rightly — come to love.”Check out the full review here.

Chris Hewitt, EmpireOnline.com: “Here is a movie where the emphasis is on good, old-fashioned fun, and that feels, in a good way, almost like an extended episode of the Trek TV show, right down to stranding the crew of the Enterprise on an alien world where the sets sometimes feel fashioned out of polystyrene.” Check out the full review here.

Brian Truitt, USAToday.com: “The galactic adventure might be an uneven one, but the combination of gravitas, a little mirth and old-school Trek themes makes Beyond a decently entertaining trip to the final frontier.” Check out the full review here.

Russ Fischer, TheWrap.com: “‘Star Trek Beyond’ forges a path right down the middle of the franchise’s well-defined lane, playing more like a greatest-hits compilation than anything new.” Check out the full review here.

Tim Robey, Telegraph.co.uk: “While nothing in the film’s story coalesces into a workable theme – or nothing beyond unity good, individualism bad, which is matchbook scribbling at best – Lin does preserve the baseline amiability which Abrams risked jettisoning last time.” Check out the full review here.

Scott Mendelson, Forbes: Beyond whether or not Kirk “finds his smile,” the movie really isn’t about anything of note.” Check out the full review here.
