John’s Monday Tip of the Week: Live Convention Coverage!

Good afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!

Today marks the first official day of the 2016 Republican National Convention. I know it’s a busy week for you all so to help out, I’ve created a back page for your listeners to stay on top of the convention happenings.

That brings us to John’s Monday Tip of the Week!

Last week, I worked with several of your stations to create back pages that listed some of the main details of convention coverage.
This week, I thought it would be even better if we had a back page that showed all of the breaking news from the convention.

With that in mind, I put together a back page for each Newstalk station that includes a twitter widget which featuring our main Salem hosts and several other prominent officials who will be at the convention or covering it. (We did a similar thing last year during the debate coverage.)

Above the twitter widget, I included the link for users to sign up for your daily newsletters! Listeners can get up-to-the-minute coverage of the conventions on this back page BUT they should also sign up to get daily coverage of the political world in your daily newsletters!

This could be a great opportunity for us to get more page views and a few more listeners signed up for Fan Club and our newsletters.

Our awesome designer Amanda even worked at the last minute to create some ads to promote this live coverage (a 800×360 and a 970×250 rotator are attached).

These back pages could help keep our listeners tuned in to our sites– and listening to our streams– to get the latest news out of Cleveland!

As always, let me know if you are willing to link to the page and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help make the most out of the convention coverage!

This has been John’s Monday Tip of the Week!

Have a great week, y’all!

Best,

John P. Hanlon
