John’s Monday Tip of the Week: Fan Club Sponsors

Good afternoon, about it

Hope everyone has is having a great Monday.

As we’ve talked about in the past, ampoule building our Fan Club databases is an important priority for many of our stations this year. There are a variety of ways to build your Fan Clubs including promoting your newsletters, upcoming contests etc. but one other big way to promote your Fan Clubs is through partnering with potential sponsors.

That brings us to John’s Monday Tip of the Week.

If you check out the screenshot above, you can see that the WNTP site is using the two 300×250 ad spots in the right-hand column of their Fan Club page to promote their mobile apps page and their Discount Shopping Club (among other things) BUT in addition to using those ad spots for ads you may be also running on the site, you can use them to promote an official fan club sponsor.

If you want, you can talk to a local sponsor about being the sole sponsor of your Fan Club so that every time a user logs in to your Fan Club, they will always see that company’s ads on your Fan Club pages. To sweeten the offer, you can also tell potential clients that their ads can be featured in your daily newsletters and they can be mentioned in on-air advertisements (related to Fan Club).

These clients would need to pay for the sponsorship but for this deal, this sponsorship deal would let them get their message across to the most active members of your listener fan base.

They would be speaking to the loyal listeners who log in to Fan Club, receive the newsletters, enter contests etc.

These outside sponsors could co-host events with your station and also help promote your fan club, which in turn could help build up your membership numbers.

Even if you just want to try this out, you can use the DFP positions of “pos=fanclub_zone3” and “pos=fanclub_zone5″to schedule ads exclusively on the Fan Club sites. You can start or even build on a relationship by featuring an exclusive sponsor of Fan Club and trying it out to see what’s possible.

I think there are some great opportunities there that are worth considering.

Let me know if you want some help setting up such Fan Club sponsorship ads and I’d be happy to work with you on them!

This has been John’s Monday Tip of the Week!

Have a great week, y’all!

Best,

John
